Senet Y Perez Rafael (Seville, 1856-1926) Rafael Senet Y Perez was a Spanish artist. He studied under the guidance of Dominguez Becquer and Eduardo Cano de la Preda at the School of Fine Arts in Seville. Senet then moved to Madrid where he continued his education, studying the great masters at the Prado. In 1881 he went to Rome and subsequently traveled to other Italian cities such as Florence, Venice and Naples, before returning to Seville in the 1990s. He became close to a group of landscape artists who had formed around the figure of Sanchez Perrier and the development of international tourism in the 19th century led many travelers to visit the beauties of Europe. One of the most sought-after destinations was Venice, so much so that its representations increased, even by foreign artists. Senet exhibited in several exhibitions in Seville, Cadiz, Madrid and also won prestigious medals. His paintings were highly regarded during his lifetime and the Tooth Gallery in London obtained exclusive rights to sell his works.
