SENNO PIETRO Portoferraio (Livorno) 1831 - Pisa 1904 After participating in the 1849 campaign, he left the army to dedicate himself to painting, which he studied under the guidance of A. Ciseri. He contributed to the context of contemporary history with some paintings from the 1960s, presented at Florentine exhibitions (1861, An episode of the Battle of Curtatone; 1862, A cavalry reconnaissance; 1867, Prince Amedeo of Savoy wounded in Custoza). He then defined his aptitude for landscape painting, which he interpreted in ways close to the poetics of the Staggia School, whose passionate feeling for nature he shared. He favored the motifs of the Tyrrhenian coast and those of the island of Elba, as well as the effects of storms. He exhibited continuously until the early twentieth century (A stain in winter: country, exhibited in Milan in 1881; Dead water, exhibited in Venice in 1887; In the woods, exhibited in Florence at the Festival of Art and Flowers of 1896-1897 ).
