Born in Legnano in March 1909, Solaro studied at the Brera Academy under the guidance of the masters Alcinati, Cantinotti, Ornati and Brambilla. After having stayed in various locations in Lombardy and Piedmont, immediately after the war he moved to Valsabbia: first to Vestone and then, from 1950, to Lavenone. In the Valley he became friends with the Brescian poets Angelo Albricci and Bernardino Roberti and spent over twenty years there. In 1967 he left Lavenone for Verona where he died in May 1977. Faithful to the canon of sweet and romantic painting in which scenes of rural life are inserted, Solaro set up personal exhibitions in Brescia, Bolzano, Novara, Arona and Verona.
