Romano Stefanelli (1931 - 2016) trained in the studio of Pietro Annigoni from whom he learned various pictorial techniques including graphics, soon becoming a good figurativist and landscape painter. In 1962 he won the National Portrait Competition in Florence. He later presented two tempera paintings for the Florentine Church of Divine Providence and in 1967 he created the large fresco The Annunciation for the Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Ponte Buggianese. In 1968 he exhibited in a solo exhibition at the Levi Gallery in Milan, an event that can be considered his true debut. A multifaceted artist, Romano Stefanelli creates various still lifes and landscapes, nudes, portraits, frescoes and engravings up to the creation of jewels using the embossing and chisel technique.
