Studio Rosselli Ponti Fornaroli Biography
In 1952, a huge shed was converted by Gio Ponti into a garage which later became his studio, which continued to be called the "shed". During the 1970s, when Ponti attributed the name "forma" to all his creations (shape for a car, shape for a museum, shape for a cathedral), he probably would have called his crowded warehouse "shape" also for a study. This 15x45 meter open space fully embodied his conception of an architectural studio (Studio Ponti Fornaroli Rosselli) that would also act as a laboratory, a place of experimentation for young guests and students from every country, an exhibition of materials and models (furnished with such materials and models), as well as space for exhibitions. The shed was also for years the place where Domus was drawn up, and served as a venue for family weddings and parties. It corresponded to Ponti's pleasure in living and working without secrets, being a house with movable walls and a study without walls. Ponti would have liked the new headquarters of the Faculty of Architecture in Milan, then under construction, to also be conceived as a laboratory on the same basis.
