Lucio Todeschini Biography

Lucio Todeschini was born on 20 February 1892 in Milan and was part of a family of artists. His father, Giambattista, was an established painter during the second half of the nineteenth century in Lombardy, so much so that Todeschini had been his pupil. When he returned from the Libyan war, he exhibited his impressions from Africa at the "Artists and Patriotic Society" and received the gold medal. Subsequently he dedicated himself to painting moral-patriotic subjects and designing advertising posters. Although his profession was that of an architect, he soon moved to Cortenova in the province of Como, where he dedicated much of his time to painting and mainly painted flowers, still lifes and landscapes of Valsassina. His painting is tinged with a refined poetic and elegant feeling, solid in his mastery of the technical means of drawing and color, following the Lombard school of landscape painting of the late nineteenth century. Todeschini, due to his shy character, almost never exhibited in personal or public exhibitions. Because of this, the reconstruction of his catalog and his artistic biography is difficult. He died in Cortenova on 8 March 1969.
