Filippo Vacchetti Biography
Filippo Tommaso Emilio Vacchetti was born in Carrù, in the province of Cuneo, on 28 May 1873. He studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, where he had as teachers important artists such as Pier Celestino Gilardi, Paolo Gaidano, Andrea Marchisio, Andrea Tavernier and Giacomo Big. In 1907 he had his first public exhibition at the Promotrice of Turin with the work "Portrait of a peasant". After successfully completing his studies, he continued his career by painting on commission and doing restoration and decoration work.
He exhibited at the Promotrice of Turin from 1907 to 1941, mainly showing his still lifes which depicted a variety of fruits and vegetables from the garden. He also painted objects such as mismatched shoes, cardboard suitcases, kitchen bronzes, mixing bowls and pots. He participated only twice in the Circolo degli Artisti of Turin, the first time in 1915/1916 with "Paesaggio" and the following year with "Fiori e Frutta". In 1925, he set up a personal exhibition in Chianciano Terme, which was very successful, so much so that he returned the following year. In 1926, he participated in the Provincial Exhibition of Fine Arts in Cuneo and obtained a room dedicated to the Vacchetti brothers.
In 1928, he presented two works to the Promoter of Turin, entitled "Mele" and "Papa's inheritance". Filippo Tommaso Emilio Vacchetti died in 1945.
