Lucio Venna, pseudonym of Giuseppe Landsmann (Venice, 28 December 1897 – Florence, 4 September 1974), was an Italian painter, exponent of the futurist movement. Giuseppe Landsmann (aka Lucio Venna), son of a merchant of Austrian origin, was born in Venice on 28 December 1897. At the age of fifteen he abandoned the lagoon city and his family, with the firm conviction of dedicating himself to painting, and in May 1912 arrives in the rich and culturally dynamic Florence of the beginning of the century. In 1913 he met the painter Emilio Notte (the meeting is probably attributable to the famous futurist evening which took place at the Teatro Verdi in December of the same year) who introduced him to painting. Emilio Notte, who was born in Ceglie but whose family was Venetian, who had also been in Florence for a year and had been resident in Prato since 1907, despite his young age (he was born in 1891), tacitly assumed the role of teacher, which he later resolves into a bond of solid friendship and privileged collaboration.
