Luciano Vistosi was born in Murano in 1931 and spent his entire childhood and a good part of his adolescence in the family furnace, where he learned the techniques to understand the moods, colours, sounds and flavors of the ancient tradition of master glassmakers. After completing his studies, his career as an artist appears from the beginning to be marked by a strong aspiration for experimental research. Being left-handed also forces him to reinvent the tools of the trade for working glass. The tension towards absolute forms, the desire to subjugate the quality of materials to style and the belief that drawing is only the starting point for a work that can follow different paths, lead to the creation of his glass sculptures. Since the 1960s there have been numerous solo exhibitions and participations in exhibitions all over the world: from Venice to San Francisco, from Madrid to Japan via Cologne.
