Jacob Ferdinand Voet was born in Antwerp in 1639 and was a famous Flemish painter, best known for his portrait works. He made a long trip to Italy, visiting first Rome, then Milan, Florence and Turin. In 1684 he returned to Antwerp in the company of the painter Jan Van Bunnik, whom he met in Rome.
According to Houbraken, Ferdinand returned to Antwerp via Lyon where he met Adrien van del Cabel and Pieter Van Bloemen, conversing about painting and art and opening up to different artistic conceptions.
Among his best-known works, we find the "Portrait of Buondelmonte Augustini" and the "Portrait of Francesco Antonio Augustini", exhibited in the Civic Art Gallery of Forlì. Ferdinand also created a series of portraits of Piero Banchieri and the lady Caterina Rospigliosi. He died around 1700.
