Jean Roger Gouyé, known as Jean Yanne, was a French actor, comedian, writer, director, singer, producer and composer. Born on 18 July 1933 in Lilas to André Gouyé and Aimée Bonabeaux, he spent his youth in Celles-sur-Belle because his father had been deported to Germany during the Second World War. After attending college, he dedicated himself to an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, but soon abandoned his job to dedicate himself to journalism. He later approached the world of cabaret and began his acting career in cinema with "La Vie à l'envers" by Alain Jessua in 1964. Throughout his career, Yanne has developed a strong media presence also through radio and television. He died on May 23, 2003 on his property in Morsains.
