Son of the Venetian ceramist Giovanni Battista, Antonio Zen was born in Nove, in the province of Vicenza, in 1871. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and at the School of Ceramics in Nove. In 1885 he opened, together with his father, the "GB Zen & Figlio" ceramic factory. Upon the death of his father, Antonio Zen became the owner of the factory, joined forces with Demetrio Primon, expanded the factory and changed its name to "A. Zen Ceramiche". In 1914 he assumed the position of mayor of the city of Nove. In the 1930s the factory, which became "A. Zen & Figlio" with the entry of his son Giovanni Battista (second of the name), employed around 70 workers and operated with three electric and three wood-fired ovens and exported a good part of the production. in the Americas.. A ceramist and sculptor of good quality and notable fame, his works are exhibited in numerous exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. Some of his works are exhibited at the Fairs of Padua, Milan, Barcelona, etc. Antonio Zen died in Nove in 1944.
