A rare Fatimid lustre painted dish decorated with central bird and epigraphies Egypt, Fustat, Fatimid dynasty, 910 - 1171, 11th century Earthenware painted with lustre over white glaze
Resting on disc, displays, in the center, a bird among stylized shoots. On the internal walls are votive writings in ornamental Kufic script, while the upper rim is decorated by small waves. The outside bears traces of a medallion pattern. For similar examples refer to Watson 2004, p. 277; another is at the Walters Art Museum of Baltimora. Conservative restoration.
