The hunting scene depicted, which shows a hunting procession with a falconer and two ladies on horseback and a foot servant with a pack of dogs, derives directly from the detail of an engraving by Antonio Tempesta (1555-1630), from which it is was treated with the "spolvero" technique characteristic of the Castelli workshops, and is attributable on a stylistic basis to the corpus of Giacomo Gentili the Younger, with possible comparisons with a majolica plaque depicting a battle preserved in the Museum of San Martino in Naples and two plaques of the National Gallery of the Marche in Urbino (a "Pastoral scene" and a "Faun and nymph in a pastoral landscape").
