The cover is illustrated by a drawing by Arp, drawn on a copper-colored laminated paper background. Original edition of the only issue of this literary and artistic collection published by Hugo Ball in Zurich in 1916.
It is in this collection that the word DADA appears for the first time, during the manifesto that was drawn up in Zurich at the famous cabaret "Cabaret Voltaire".
With the foundation of the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, on February 5, 1916, the Dada movement was born to all intents and purposes. Promoters are the German poet and scholar Hugo Ball, the Romanian poet and essayist Tristan Tzara, the painter and set designer Marcel Janco, as well as the painter and sculptor Hans Arp. The name of the cabaret alludes to the exaltation of reason against the irrationality of war.
There were organized evenings in which musical performances, poetry readings, conferences, exhibitions, simultaneous production of works that combined different artistic languages ​​took place, in an atmosphere of exhilarating and provocative creativity.
