This marble bust, probably depicting a Greco-Roman goddess or an allegory, is stylistically comparable to the model of the "Ideal Heads" by Antonio Canova (1757-1822), a very successful serie that the famous sculptor developed starting from portraiture of the women of the Napoleonic family to create, starting from the 1810s, a serie of variations on the theme of the "ideal beauty", appreciated and variously imitated throughout the early 19th century.
