Pubblication: Plamena Dimitrova Racheva, Boris Georgiev of Varna, Ed. Kibea, pp. 74 e 131.
Boris Gerogiev made several portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi, thus immortalizing his deep friendship with the great Indian who always claimed that good and truth were the two mainstays of brotherhood.
In all his lectures in Bulgaria, Italy and Brazil, the artist spoke of India and of his acquaintance with Pandit Mahatma Gandhi and his wife.
His first notes on that acquaintance date back to 1931, when he sailed from Trieste to Bombay. Boris Georgiev also painted portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi in 1935 when he was invited to their home. The event was described in his notes and in letters to friends in Bulgaria.
The portraits of Kasturba Gandhi is characterized by a great closeness to the original. It conveys the artist's reverence for the wisdom and strength of an extraordinary woman. More than twenty years later, Boris Georgiev still spoke of her with admiration: "What a pure, exalted companion for a sage".
