The name by which this artist, active around the middle of the 16th century in the Germanic or Flemish area, is known to the scholars derives from the main nucleus of his drawings known today, which is found in the collections of the Principality of Lichtenstein; it is due to Friedrich Winkler (See "The Anonymous Liechtenstein Master" in "Master Drawings", I, 1963, pp. 34-38) and Otto Benesch (See "Once again the Anonymous Liechtenstein Master" in "Master Drawings", III, 1965), the study and publication of other drawings attributed to the artist in Vienna (Albertina), Dresden (Kupferstichkabinet der Staatliche Sammlung) and Erlangen (Library), in addition to the study of the style and influences of this Northern European master, in which the influences of artists such as Cornelis Floris and Pieter Coecke Aelst can be spot.
