The male bust is portrayed in the warlord’s pose as evidenced by the drapery of the cloak reminiscent of the swamp of Roman commanders including emperors, as well as by the pteryx ( leather fringe) of the armor seen on the right shoulder. Paludamentum and pteryx were adopted and widely used as a symbol of military power since ancient Rome.
