Falisca Ars Artwork valuations, appraisals and auction estimates

In 1909   Agostino Colonnelli   he founded the "Falisca Ars" factory for the production of artistic ceramics in Civita Castellana, in the Province of Viterbo, in the warehouses of the family palace, in Piazza del Campo (today Piazza Giacomo Matteotti).
Already in the first year of activity, the small factory presented a terracotta sculpture entitled " Acquaiola " at the exhibition held at the Campidoglio in Rome, obtaining a first prize.
In 1910, Ernesto Natali joined the company as president, the name of the company was changed to "Neo Falisca Ars" and Agostino Colonnelli took on the role of commercial director.
In the following years the manufacture came into contact with   Duilio Cambellotti , who often travels to Civita Castellana to teach at the city's Ceramics School.
Cambellotti himself and some artists of his circle, including   Virgilio Retrosi   And   Roberto Rosati , open a relationship of close collaboration with the manufacturer whose molder also works   Eugenio Tarantelli.
In 1915, once the company with Ernesto Natali was dissolved, Agostino Colonnelli handed over ownership and remained in the factory, which now had 27 workers, as commercial director and the original name of "Falisca Ars" was restored.
In the same year the ceramist began to collaborate with the company   Carlo Guerrieri   who ten years later, in 1925, took on the role of managing director.
In 1920 Colonnelli founded the "SIAI" (Italian Artistic Industries Union) which brings together some artistic craftsmanship companies operating in various sectors including the ceramic one.
The union includes, through Cambellotti, some ceramists from the Roman area, including   Lorenzo Cozza , who is also entrusted with the direction of the "Neo Falisca Ars", the brothers   Romeo ,   Orestes ,   Paul   And   Vincenzo Borzelli   And   Alfredo Biagini   who brand their products with the union brand often accompanied by the words "single piece".
The Syndicate ceased its activity in 1923 and Agostino Colonnelli returned to his "Falisca Ars" and his other multiple activities as a volcanic entrepreneur.
Some rare pottery from this period is marked simply "F"
In 1928 "Falisca Ars" exhibited at the Milan Trade Fair.
In 1936, due to considerable economic difficulties, the company was taken over by Carlo Guerrieri e   Adolfo Brunelli   and incorporated into the " FACI " ceramics factory in Civita Castellana.
In the production of the factory, some Art Nouveau vases and ornaments are worth mentioning, characterized by an imitation silver coating.
In very recent times, Colonnelli's descendants, Alberto and Luca Mozzi Galiani, have resumed production under the "Falisca Ars" and "Neo Falisca Ars" brands. Read the full biography
