Roberto Mora Biography

After the graphics and painting of his early years, Roberto Mora enthusiastically embraced practices and theories of radical design in the 1990s. From this moment on, the Dilmos gallery in Milan will become a design training ground for him and an ideal place to present his "unique pieces": objects/sculptures poised between function and dystrophies of form. In those years Mora practiced and explored the expressive possibilities of iron, which he combined with wood and river stones encountered in his usual pilgrimages along the Apennine rivers. In 2004 he participated in the “Radical Design” exhibition curated by Gianni Pettena which documents the evolution of design from the 60s to today in a small and rich volume: Gianni Osgnach, Roberto Mora, Alessandro Ciffo, Andrea Salvetti, the Campana brothers and about ten others represent the latest generation of self-producing designers. In 2005 he was invited to “Art of Italian Design”, an international exhibition curated by Alessandro Mendini. The end of 2006 coincides with the trip to Indonesia. Here, Mora collects suggestions and experiences that will have a notable influence on the birth of "tubism". In 2008 he presented the new collection "Carte & Cartocci": iron is once again the protagonist who dreams of being able to fly by simulating the lightness and fragility of paper. In 2010, he took part in the exhibition “Quali coseriamo” curated by Alessandro Mendini and visible for an entire year at the Triennale museum in Milan. In 2011 he presented “Babel”, a new cylindrical container that continues the wrinkled traces of previous works, this time in a more sophisticated color guise.
