Noteworthy bronze sculpture depicting Dusum Kyenpa (1110-1193), first Karmapa and origin of the Karma Kagyu lineage in the Kagyupa school, founded during the XI century by the masters Marpa Milarepa and Gampopa. The figure is sitting in the padmasana position, on a double lotus flower base with big petals. The right hand performs the bhumisparsamudra, while the left one performs the avakasamudra. The figure wears an headdress characteristic of his lineage, and a rich monastic robe supplemented by a cape with peculiar ribbing on the back. On the robes are silver and copper appliqué reinforcing the edges, chiseled with phytomorphic motifs. The same metals are present on the face, defining the lips and the eyes, in addition to traces of yellow pigment. The base is still sealed.
