This example and the next lot belong to the series of woodcuts printed from the original sixteenth-century blocks engraved by Hans Burgkmair the Elder depicting the battles of Emperor Maximilian (1512-1516) entitled "Marx Treitzsaurwein der Weisskunig" (236 woodcuts in total) published for the first time in 1775.
