Auction 365 | AFRICA, OCEANIA & AMERICA - ARTE AFRICANA Traditional
Lot 130
Colonial sculpture of male figure sitting with crossed legs and raised arm. Elegantly dressed with elegant jacket finished with double buttons, high lapel and rounded cuffs and adorned with a heavy necklace (excellent testimony of the Congolese fashion of the beginning of the last century!), could represent a noble ancestor deceased since the sitting position with crossed legs recalls the funeral figure Ntandi.
Some superficial cracks and a restoration carried out with a nail "in situ" at the shoulder.
The patina is not particularly blrillante, is honest and not aged artificially. Remarkable signs of use.

Starting price: € 1.200,00
