Beautiful and elegant sculpture of ancestor portrayed in an upright position with evident scarifications on the abdomen and characterized by a rich and complex hairstyle that together with the beard indicated the high rank of the character.
The sculptures of ancestors like this one were treasured kept by the Baulè in the houses and were regularly the object of libations of palm oil or vegetable butter that gave the wood, over time, a characteristic glossy patina.
