Auction 365 | AFRICA, OCEANIA & AMERICA - ARTE AFRICANA Traditional
Lot 81
Young but nice anthropomorphic sculpture Ewe, probably from the colonial era, characterized
by huge and disproportionate arms nailed to the body, a hairstyle bepop style and eyes represented strongly asymmetrical.
The generalized presence of kaolin all over the body, the shoes outlined by the black pigment as well as the hairstyle of the hair could make us think of the figure-portrait of a western man created perhaps in memory, perhaps for representation, but definitely in the typical Ewe style.
